From March 18-26, 2017, Hewitt is once again providing a trip to Spain that includes service learning, language immersion, and cultural diversity components. Hewitt girls will participate activities that further the United Nations goals to end poverty and protect the planet.

Hewitt students will be exposed to authentic experiences including, having pen-pals, living with a host family, and visiting a school in Spain — how amazing! They will experience the rich cultural legacy throughout Spain and study the coexistence of different religions including Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, in multi-religious societies, such as Sevilla, Cordoba, and Vejer.

On days 1-2, Hewitt will travel to Sevilla, Spain and meet their host families. On day 3, there will be a sightseeing tour, a visit to the Sephardic Interpretation Center, and time to roam the historic city center and shop. On day 4, Hewitt will learn about feminism & gender equality throughout the day and visit an art gallery. On day 5, Hewitt will attend school with their buddies and do a kayaking, biking, or walking sightseeing tour. On day 6, Hewitt will travel to Córdoba and visit La Casa Árabe, a Spanish public consortium. On day 7, Hewitt will visit a honey bee and wind farm, participate in a cooking workshop, and go to El Palmar Beach. On the last day in Spain, day 8, the girls will have a beach day and have the opportunity to go whale watching and visit the town of Vejer de la Frontera. On day 9, the girls travel back home to NYC. Wow, what an adventure!

Anjali M. ‘19, who went on the Spain Trip last year and already signed up for this year’s said, “It was a very exciting trip in which we were truly immersed in the Spanish culture/lifestyle.”
