The 4th annual TEDx Youth@Hewitt is just around the corner, and our team is hard at work planning the day. But before we get to the specifics, it’s important to understand what exactly TEDxYouth@Hewitt is. TEDxYouth@Hewitt is an event that is a part of TEDxYouthDay, “a series of TEDx events designed to empower and inspire young people worldwide.” The universal theme for the day this year is “The Spark.” If after hearing this, Katy Perry’s song “Firework” pops up into your head, you already have the right idea.

It could be baking, singing, acting, programming, painting, debating, or anything else that gets you motivated and excited. There really is no limit to what your passion can be. But what if you haven’t found your passion yet? Don’t worry: TEDx Youth @Hewitt is here to help. We’re trying to reach an audience with both discovered and undiscovered passions by showing students where and how passions can be found. Speakers like Sydney Sadick ’12, James Parris, and Jon Lee Brody will be sharing their stories to inspire students ignite their sparks.

Next, the day aims to help students take their passions to the next level. If you’ve found your passion but don’t know what to do next, speakers like Sofia Stafford ’13, Austin Diamond, and Rachel DeAlto, will give you insight into how people can take little sparks of passion and turn them into lifelong pursuits and careers. After recognizing your spark, it really is about following through to create a flame that can take all sorts of forms.

Finally, TEDxYouth@Hewitt will also help people who have already found their sparks and started their flames and want to help others do the same. Speakers like Brent Comstock, as well as performances like those from Urban Word, will help students learn how to give back and help those pursue their own dream.

TEDx hopes to empower people across the world to take action to do what they love, so join the movement on November 16th to find your spark. Register now!
