After studying this painting, the eager girls were assigned to create their own interpretation of this well-known masterpiece. After Ms. Lindvall took pictures of the students making the “scream face,” (resembling the legendary Home Alone expression), the girls started working diligently, using simple and everyday materials like cardboard and pastel to create their individual paintings.

On Tuesday morning, we received several reports of missing paintings, so Hewitt Times reporters hurried to cover the scene. Trembles from the second graders shook McKelvey’s halls. One of the students whose painting had been stolen shouted, “OMG! Where did it go!” We asked students their thoughts on who the suspect may be. A student proposed, “There is that crazy guy in the park…” Another student jumped, “I think it was Mr. Patti!” We asked Mr. Patti to comment on these allegations, but his alibi checked out.

Mr. Patti, the second graders, and the security team are working to find the culprit. If you saw or heard anything, leave us a tip on our anonymous hotline.
