On Thursday, February 17, some members of the Hewitt Upper School community were performing in the annual Lip Sync for the first time—and some for the last.

“It makes me really sad but I enjoyed myself—I will never forget this,” said senior Samara Foster after her performance for the Blue Team in the Lip Sync.
This year’s competition featured music from the Backstreet Boys to OutKast and back. And with all of this musical variety compacted into eight acts, people had to wonder what the performers were expecting from their audience.

“Either silence or laughter,” said freshman Gillian Presto.
What with having such a wide spectrum for reactions, you would think the performers had to be at least a little bit nervous. “Not really,” Gillian said, “Just go out and embarrass yourself. That’s having fun.”

The performers themselves were great—each one different from the next. But the overall winner is what everyone remembers—the 12th grade white team with their medley of the song “Macho Macho Man” and a few other classics.
However, each team had one thing that made all of them memorable—everyone looked ridiculous! And the crowd loved it.
Stay tuned for the next round of blue-white madness!
