This year’s theme, “Made in the Future”,  focuses on female empowerment. This will be the first year TEDxYouth@Hewitt focuses on women who are breaking boundaries in their field of work.

“I really like this year’s theme because it allowed us to invite women who are passionate about making changes for posterity. We also were able to invite many young speakers, which is exciting,” says co-curator, Jessie Stoller ’17.

The curators for this event have been working tirelessly since September to gather a group of diverse speakers to tell their uplifting stories. The speakers this year range from actors to teenage entrepreneurs. Selecting and securing a list of speakers is a long process.

“I’m excited about TEDx because our group has put in a lot of effort to make it happen, and I can’t wait to see the end result,” explains Christina Bowllan’ 18, one of the curators for the event.

Several Hewitt students will be on stage throughout the day. The Bright Side, a band with Madeline Wilmot ’16, Lexi Glicksman ’16, Julia Glicksman ’19, and Mr. Kochyan, will be performing. As well as Chelsea Gardner ’16,  Student Council President, the host of the event.
