Amongst the hustle and bustle of New York City are some of the most scrumptious sweets and finest desserts in the world. Hewitt students always seem to be taking time out of the day to indulge their sweet teeth with some mouth-watering treats. Being located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, we are granted the opportunity to eat at quick, convenient places whenever we desire. So, here are some top hotspots in the neighborhood that are sure to satisfy all your dessert needs.

Walking the Hewitt halls, I often find myself gazing at the plush pink cups that girls clutch in their hands as they hurry to class. Those pink cups belong to the famous Sant Ambroeuslocated on Madison Avenue between 77th and 78th streets. Hewitt girls are big supporters of the hot chocolate there, especially in the winter, when a warm drink can ease the winter chill. This eatery is also a great place to pick up scoops of gelato in the warmer months. Sant Ambroeus’ gelato is flavored with simple, fresh ingredients in the traditional Italian fashion–this frozen confection will not disappoint.

Another satisfying place to visit during the school day is the beautiful Ladurée, located on Madison Avenue between 70th and 71st streets. Laudurée is home to the legendary macaroons that prompt lines to wrap around the block. Luckily, attending the Hewitt School gives us the opportunity to go extra early and beat the insane crowd. The shop’s Parisian motif will transport you thousands of miles and have you ready for class with Madame Albino 15 minutes later.

If lunch hasn’t quite filled you up, a piece of cake from Lady M Cake Boutique will do the trick. Some say this 78th street boutique offers the best cake in New York City; I would have to agree. The bakers at Lady M bring a refreshingly modern touch to tradition Parisian pastries. The Mille Crepes, a seemingly limitless tower of crepes with crème filling between each layer, is among the ‘best cakes in America,’ according to Bon Appetit Magazine.  This cake shop figuratively and somewhat literally towers over all other bakeries on the island.
