It’s the time of the year when Hewitt’s Gym is bustling with activity, for a slightly different reason than usual– the Book Fair! This beloved annual event kicked off Tuesday night, with visits from authors whose books are featured among many other exciting titles on the seemingly endless tables with different genres of literary wonder. Indeed, going along with this year’s theme of “Read Around the World,” Co-Chairwoman Laura Meltzer couldn’t name just one bestselling title.
“We have such a wide selection that a lot of different books could be selling really well,” she explained, also citing various grade and age levels. However, active Parent Association member Elizabeth Benintendi jokingly referred to a popular, now sold-out One Direction book as a great contributor to Hewitt’s sales.
So what else should One Direction fans and non-fans alike be on the lookout for? Co-Chairwoman of Hewitt Merchandise Jo’Anne Williams particularly recommends the psychedelic and equally comfy-looking “Love Hewitt” pillows and the long sleeved T-shirts graced with Hewitt’s dazzling emblem on their bottoms. Of course, there’s also the trendy Hewitt charm bracelet with a brand new heart charm. But the most exciting novelty of this year’s event is an invention created by Hewitt’s own Finance Club: bike shorts to wear underneath your uniform for those long treks up the staircase–or even your weekly spinning outings!
