On Thursday, February 17, some members of the Hewitt Upper School community were performing in the annual Lip Sync for the first time—and some for the last.

12th Grade Blue gave an intricate performance, yet fell short of winning the competition.

“It makes me really sad but I enjoyed myself—I will never forget this,” said senior Samara Foster after her performance for the Blue Team in the Lip Sync.

This year’s competition featured music from the Backstreet Boys to OutKast and back. And with all of this musical variety compacted into eight acts, people had to wonder what the performers were expecting from their audience.

The 12th grade white team performed a medley of hits. Their great song choices and solid choreography lead them to win the top spot in the competition.

“Either silence or laughter,” said freshman Gillian Presto.

What with having such a wide spectrum for reactions, you would think the performers had to be at least a little bit nervous. “Not really,” Gillian said, “Just go out and embarrass yourself. That’s having fun.”

The 11th grade blue team performed to Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair".

The performers themselves were great—each one different from the next. But the overall winner is what everyone remembers—the 12th grade white team with their medley of the song “Macho Macho Man” and a few other classics.

However, each team had one thing that made all of them memorable—everyone looked ridiculous!  And the crowd loved it.

Stay tuned for the next round of blue-white madness!
