This year’s fall play, Peter and the Starcatcher, is based on the 2004 novel Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. In the novel, a young orphan and his friends are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, played by Nicolette Van Kesteran. Molly is a star catcher-in-training who realizes that the ships precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. The story follows the thrilling adventure as pirates who take over the ship battle the boys and Molly for this mysterious treasure.

Cali B ‘19 says, “I was very surprised when I heard that Peter and the Starcatcher was the fall play because it contains a lot of thrilling scenes that include many props. However, I am so glad it was chosen and we were able to pull everything off. The cast has been amazing and I am so excited for everyone to see the show!”

The cast performed for the entire Upper School on Friday, October 27 and did two other performances Thursday and Friday nights; they began rehearsing since before school started in September. When the Upper Schoolers saw the show, the entire theater erupted in laughter from start to finish. Everyone truly loved the play! The many months of hard work and dedication in rehearsals were evident on the St. Jean’s stage. Congrats to the cast on a fantastic run!
