A few months ago, Hewitt athletes were excited to be a part of the winter conditioning, basketball, and squash teams; however, they are now bidding farewell to these sports until next winter and getting ready for Spring sports.

Squash: Varsity squash had their most successful season yet. They took home three wins; two against Nightingale Bamford School, and the following against the Kent Place School. The second win against Nightingale placed the team in the semi-finals. Sabrina S.’18 says, “Winning three games was a huge achievement for the squash team. We’ve been strengthening our squash team over the years and I think our hard work and determination has paid off.” Although the team didn’t make it to finals this year, they put in a lot of hard work and Hewitt’s faculty and study body can’t wait for another great season!

Basketball: From the first day of tryouts until the end of the season, the members of the Hewitt’s varsity basketball team have been working hard. Although several players suffered from injuries throughout the season, their positive spirit was not lost. Not only did they work on their individual skills, such as dribbling, shooting, and passing, but they also worked on their teamwork skills. Lilah H. 18’ says, “Practices were always fun. I really enjoyed spending time with other upperclassmen and underclassmen, especially the ones I didn’t know before.” They had a great season filled with bonding, practicing, and hard work.

Winter Conditioning: For the Hewitt athletes looking to get in shape for the Spring season, Winter Conditioning was their home. Girls ranging from grades nine to twelve commuted to Asphalt Green three times a week after school. For an hour and a half, they used the equipment located in facility to workout. They all became much stronger both mentally and physically. They cannot wait for the next season!

Stay tuned for more news about the Hawks when the Spring season begins!
