On Tuesday, November 24th all students, faculty, and staff gathered for the 13th annual Thanksgiving assembly. The Eighth Church of Christ, Scientist was filled with laughter, song, and, most importantly, thanks radiating from the Hewitt community.

The event kicked off with opening remarks from Upper School Student President, Chelsea Gardener ’16 speaking about how blessed she is not only for her fellow teachers and peers but her Hewitt family. What followed were musical performances from handbells, choir, and instrumental performances from students of all grades. In addition, students read Thanksgiving skits and poems and heartwarming speeches.

Everyone’s favorite part of the assembly was when the entire school sang along to the “Turkey Song” led by the kindergarteners who wore their handmade turkey hats. According to kindergarten teacher, Ms. Zinn,  “The K girls had been practicing the Turkey Song for weeks now, and definitely sang it any chance they could get!”

To close the ceremony acknowledgements were made by Dr. Kinsey. She spoke about how thankful she is to be apart of the Hewitt community. Dr. Kinsey acknowledged the teachers, the students, and the staff, particularly Hewitt’s maintenance staff who inspired her with the phrase “Nosotras Juntas” or “we together”. Everyone at Hewitt received a bracelet with the phrase imprinted on it.

The Thanksgiving assembly has been a loved tradition by all for the last thirteen years and one we hope to continue for years to come. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
