Hello Hewitt Times Staff,

I enjoyed a number of articles from your recent issue and was especially intrigued with two writers’ reluctance to accept modernity. While I admire these fearless writers’ (Erika Manouselis and Amanda Levit) conviction in their views, I also wonder why Erika feels that large umbrellas personify the selfish nature of the times. Likewise, Amanda Levit is convinced that many technologies, such as the iPad and Kindle, are “soul sucking”. Moreover, I do not disagree with these assertions but champion them! These articles critique modern society under the guise of umbrellas or E-reading devices, but I would love for these reporters to comment directly on what they dislike about the modern era.

Sincerely,

Emily Wynne
