HoMMUNC = Horace Mann Model United Nations Conference
On Saturday, October 27, 12 students in Hewitt’s Model United Nations club attended the annual Horace Mann debate conference. Below is a typical day in the life of a model UNer.
7:32am: Ms. Gallin mistakenly calls the wrong bus driver and awakens him at quite an early hour.
8:01am: Our delegation is enthusiastic and prepared, ready to take on a jam-packed day.
8:19am: We eat a hearty breakfast of bagels and chocolate chip muffins before posing for this not-so-official photo.
8:31am: A speech by an inspiring keynote speaker highlights the importance of global communications and its potential to galvanize universal progress. The speaker currently runs a company in Latin American that aims to supply training and funds to aspiring entrepreneurs.
9:02am: Roll call ✓
12:47pm: Austerity measures for Greece? PIGS in trouble? Smaller, more effective loans? After hours of heated debate, Julia Bronheim ’13 and I head back to the cafeteria for some cookies and sandwiches.
2:56pm: Ms. Gallin decides to pop by our committee to snap this picture make sure Julia and I are working.
3:15pm: Phone battery is dying… Looks like this will be all for today’s coverage of the conference.
3:32pm: Phone battery still hasn’t died… Maybe this is the reason why I still own a Blackberry?
