[9:59] Tyree Dumas has arrived!

[10:07] I’m sitting with Nicki Feldbaum, a 10th grader at Hewitt, who tells me “I have not been to a TEDx conference before, and I am really excited to hear the speakers talk about what they’re passionate about. In the theme of TEDx, before the conference begins, I am reading an article about narcissism and attitudes towards non-human figures in Harry Potter called “Revealing Discrimination: Social Hierarchy and the Exclusion/Enslavement if the Other in the Harry Potter Novels,” by Amy M. Green. It relates to TEDx because it’s about seeing things from another point of view and it is inspiring me to think more closely about the world in which the characters live and relations to reality. I believe that different perspectives enable people to accomplish their own dreams.”

[10:18] TEDxYouth@Hewitt is about to begin!

[10:57] As a Writopia student, I especially enjoyed hearing Rebecca Wallace-Segall speak about the power of writing and the need to write.

[11:05] “If one story can change your life, it might as well be your own” – Ajay Johnson

[11:28] I asked Rebecca Wallace-Segall about her experiences today, and she said “It was a great experience to finally be speaking at TEDx! I felt that my message really reached the audience, and, especially after I spoke, I enjoyed hearing that people were inspired by my message and want to bring writing into their own lives.”

During the breaks, be sure to write down your dreams on the chalkboard wallpaper hung up on the walls!

[2:35] I am so excited to hear Lo Anderson, a slam poet, speak today!

Congratulations to the entire TEDx curatorial team on a fabulous and truly inspiring event! Dream big, then do something…the power of one, the power of all.
